“No Kings” Protest Planned In Johnston County As Part Of Nationwide Demonstration
CLAYTON — A protest is scheduled to take place in Clayton on Saturday, October 18 as part of a nationwide series of demonstrations organized under the name “No Kings.” The event is one of thousands expected across the country, organized by groups critical of the current presidential administration.
The Johnston County protest is planned for Clayton Town Square at 100 W. Main Street and will include speakers from several advocacy organizations, including Veterans for Responsible Leadership, Down Home NC, Moms Demand Action, and JoCo Pride.
Organizers describe the protest as a nonviolent action focused on promoting democratic principles and opposing what they see as an excessive concentration of executive power. The movement’s slogan, “No Kings,” reflects concerns expressed by its participants about the role and influence of the presidency.
The October 18 event follows a previous day of protest held on June 14, which drew participation in all 50 states. The campaign has received support from advocacy groups, including the ACLU, MoveOn, the Human Rights Campaign, and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
According to organizers, all events are designed to remain peaceful, with local coordination efforts including safety planning and de-escalation training for participants.
No counter-demonstrations have been announced at this time.

I celebrate no kings day on July 4. Clayton has always been home to liberals in the city limits. That’s why their taxes are so high they need the government handouts

Funny how this is coming from the side whose leaders picked their candidate without even letting their base vote — then told everyone to fall in line behind her. If that’s not elitism, I don’t know what is. Maybe the “No Kings” protest should be aimed at their own party for silencing their members just to stay in power.

My ancestors moved from the Marks Creek area of Johnston Co. in the early 1850s & settled in Cockrum, MS, traveling over 865 miles with their 7 children, household belongings, & livestock on Hwy. 64 which was the stagecoach road. There were no protests in Cockrum today, no Trump haters, no antifas, no blmers. I’m grateful they left NC when they did.
