UPDATE: Suspect In Sheetz Robbery Surrenders To Authorities

UPDATE 2:59 p.m. OCTOBER 9, 2025 – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Steve Darrel Sidney Jr. of Cary. Sidney turned himself in today at the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office where he was formally charged with common law robbery.

JOHNSTON COUNTY – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning robbery that took place at the Sheetz convenience store located at 16311 NC Highway 50 North, Garner, at the intersection of Veterans Parkway.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 2:25 a.m. on Saturday, October 4. A male suspect entered the store and implied to the clerk that he was armed, although no weapon was actually displayed. The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Investigators have released photos of the individual and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.
