5th Person Arrested In “Lizard Lick” Shooting
JOHNSTON COUNTY – A fifth person has been charged in the 2022 shooting death of Alex Shirley. Shirley was the son of Ronnie Shirley, one of the owners of Lizard Lick Towing, a popular reality TV show.
Keivon Jaqual Nicholson, age 21, of Garner was arrested last month in Philadelphia. He was extradited to North Carolina this week and placed in the Johnston County Detention Center on July 21.
Nicholson is the fifth person arrested in connection with the February 17, 2022 shooting that claimed the life of Alex Shirley. Sophie Hagy was struck by gunfire and left paralyzed.
Nicholson was charged with accessory after the fact of murder. He was confined under a $150,000 secured bond.
One of the defendants, Nathan Christopher Jackson was sentenced in December 2024 to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole.
In July 2025, Joshua Stewart was sentenced to serve 33 to 38 years in prison.
Other prosecutions in this case are pending.

Why has no one ever stated a motive? I wonder why? It’s not random. He did something for this people to think he deserved to get shot. Everyone conveniently skips that part in every news story for 3 years. Why?
@Dafaq. I agree with you. No one should be executed in such a manner ever….but you’re exactly right. This is a very dark, rural area these people were on when they were shot. So, what’s the motive? What was Alex doing or what did he do? Or was this a bloods initiation thing? It makes me wonder because most articles related to this say Alex was the intended target, not the girl. Yeah, we are missing something here.
What difference does a “motive” make? Are you implying there’s justification for this murder?
What justification is that, or are you just speculating?
I see reading comprehension isn’t your greatest strength. If, in fact, you had read my comment with the cognitive abilities of someone who truly understands the meaning of applied wording, you would KNOW there is no where I am implying there is justification for this murder, attempted murder, or anything of the like. Since I am insinuating you have difficulties grasping concept, I suggest you go bank to my comment, and slowly ready my very 2nd sentence. Only then, a revelation may come upon you that your rebuttal comment is truly rubbage. Carry on, now.
