Son Charged With Murder Of Father

JOHNSTON COUNTY – A 20-year-old man is in custody after authorities say he fatally shot his father at a Johnston County hotel.
Deputies with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call around 3:48 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13 from an employee at the Sleep Inn on Commerce Parkway, Garner. Upon arrival, deputies found 58-year-old Anthony Lee White dead from an apparent gunshot wound inside one of the hotel rooms.
Investigators say the victim, Anthony White, had been residing and working at the Sleep Inn at the time of the incident.
Following an investigation, authorities identified the victim’s son, David Lamont White, 20, of Angier, as the suspect. He was located around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in a parking lot on Blue Peak Drive in Garner and taken into custody without incident.
David White has been charged with the murder of his father and is currently being held at the Johnston County Detention Center without bond.
Chief Deputy Jeff Caldwell said the investigation remains ongoing. No additional details including a possible motive have been released at this time.
