Charges Filed In Fiery Three Vehicle Collision Involving Motorcycle

CLAYTON – Clayton Police have cited a driver who reportedly made an illegal u-turn causing a serious three vehicle accident.
It happened around 8:50pm Saturday on Clayton Boulevard (formerly US 70 Business) near the ABC Store.

Police Chief Greg Tart said Hasheem Simpson, 26, of Four Oaks was operating a 2008 Honda motorcycle eastbound on Clayton Boulevard.
A 2016 Acura operated by Hassan Williamson, 36, of Fayetteville made a U-turn at the intersection of Clayton Blvd and Financial Drive and failed to yield and collided with the motorcycle.

Simpson was ejected from the motorcycle into a drainage ditch.
A third vehicle, a 2011 Hyundai, operated by Susan Winters, 67, of Clayton, did not see the motorcycle in the roadway and struck the motorcycle causing her vehicle to catch on fire.

Johnston County EMS and Clayton Fire also responded to the scene.
Simpson was transported to WakeMed with several injuries and currently remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Williamson was cited by Clayton Police for failing to yield at a left turn, Chief Tart said.
