Shoplifting Suspect Faces Drug Charges After Arrest

SMITHFIELD – A man suspected of shoplifting is now facing drug-related charges following his arrest at a local outlet store.

On October 12, around 5:00 p.m., Smithfield police responded to a report of an active shoplifting incident at the Nike Factory Store on Outlet Center Drive. Officers located the suspect and recovered stolen merchandise valued at $1,053 from a vehicle in the parking lot.

During the arrest, the suspect—identified as Branford Nathaniel Webb, 37, of Randleson, Maryland—allegedly provided officers with a false name. While being taken into custody, police reportedly found a small quantity of suspected cocaine and fentanyl in his possession.

Webb was charged with felony larceny, felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor resisting a public officer. He was booked into the Johnston County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond.
