County Eyes Site For Future JCC Medical Campus
CLAYTON – Johnston County is taking steps to secure land for a potential Johnston Community College (JCC) medical campus near the Johnston Health facility in Clayton.

County Commissioners have obtained an option to purchase a 51.7-acre property on Johnson Estate Road, located just off Veterans Parkway. The site’s close proximity to the existing hospital makes it a strategic location for future health care education and workforce training.
The agreed price is $125,000 per acre, putting the total cost at just over $6.4 million. The land is currently owned by Charles and Beatrice Coats, according to county tax records.
County officials are now evaluating the site’s suitability for development. This includes confirming access and infrastructure to support a future campus. The due diligence period runs through October 21, and if the site meets county needs, the purchase would need to be finalized by October 30.
Although there are no immediate construction plans, county leaders say the opportunity to secure a large, well-located tract of land is rare — especially in fast-growing western Johnston County, where land availability is shrinking and prices continue to climb.

STOP all the development of housing and there won’t be a shortage of land!
Taxpayers paid 11% of the budget, which was 40 million dollars. How much debt does JOCO have?
And we wonder how mire debt the county commissioner will put on tax payers.
My tax evaluation value went up and the my insurance went up.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$
You sure didn’t get what you paid for in education based on that comment.
This would be excellent for Joco if it happens!
