Tragic Ending In Search For Missing 65 Year-Old Man

BENSON – The search for a missing Johnston County man came to a tragic end, Monday night. Rickey McLamb of Benson had been missing since the night of June 6. He was last seen leaving a residence in his gold Buick LeSabre near N. Walden Pond Road and Federal Road.

Around 7:30pm Monday, a wrecked Buick LeSabre was discovered near the intersection of Federal Road and Woodall Dairy Road. Mr. McLamb was found deceased in his vehicle.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and State Highway Patrol responded and jointly investigated the traffic accident. Based on initial information, authorities believe Mr. McLamb was involved in a single car traffic accident while driving on the night of June 6. His vehicle traveled off the roadway where it was not visible to other motorists.

Officials believe the wreck went undiscovered for three days.

He was one of the good and few.. haven’t seen or spoke to him in years but there was close to a decade I would see him 3 or 4 times if not more a week always happy always friendly life never got him down if it did I never saw it in him wish I stayed in touch wished I even knew him better and I wish more could be and would try to be more like him I hope and wish his family well that his kindness be returned to them and that the community show and appreciate his life and who and how he was and look out stop by check in and possibly even lend them a helping hand
