Head-On Crash Claims Two Lives, Injures Six

ANGIER – Two people were killed and six others injured in a head-on crash in Angier. The collision was reported around 9:30pm Thursday on NC Highway 210 near Laylon Lane.

The State Highway Patrol said a Toyota Camry was traveling north on Highway 210 when a Kia Forte attempted to pass the Toyota in a no passing zone while traveling up a hill. The Kia collided head-on with a Honda CRV traveling south on Highway 210. As the Kia and Honda spun around after impact, the Toyota was struck.

The driver and front seat passenger in the Kia died at the scene. The driver was identified as 26 year-old David Morales Ibanez of Clayton. The passenger was identified as 20 year-old Kimberly Lopez Matias of Willow Spring. Two 15 year-old passengers in the Kia were airlifted to trauma centers with serious injuries.

Three occupants in the Honda were transported to WakeMed in Cary. The driver of the Toyota was transported to WakeMed in Raleigh.

Highway 210 was closed until 12:45am Friday.

This is the second head-on crash along the same stretch of Highway 210 within a month. On April 1, a cement truck and passenger car collided, resulting in serious injuries.

    • So true. Prayers lifted for the injured that they overcome this horrible uncalled for accident. People please slow down nothing is this urgent. Prayers to all the families involved.
