Vehicles Seized From Drivers Busted For Street Racing, Fleeing From Law Enforcement, JCSO Says
SMITHFIELD – Two Johnston County deputies happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Two drivers are facing charges of engaging in a prearranged speed competition, then fleeing from Johnston County deputies.
Around 10:42pm Thursday, June 12, a deputy sheriff was traveling on US 70 Business just west of Smithfield and spotted two vehicles reportedly racing. The officer was able to use his radar and determine the cars, a Dodge Charger and Lincoln MKZ, were speeding 99 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The deputy activated his blue lights and siren to stop the vehicles. Both drivers turned off their headlights and fled from the officer at a high rate of speed.
A short time later, the deputy was able to stop the Dodge Charger and arrest the driver, identified as Earnest Nash Mattocks, age 21, of Powhatan Road, Clayton.
A second deputy in the area stopped the Lincoln MKZ and arrested the operator, identified as Devontae Da’Shane Wright, age 22, of Gregtown Lane, Angier.
Both drivers were charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, prearranged speed competition, speeding, and reckless driving. Wright was also cited for driving without a license.
Mattocks and Wright were both held under $30,000 secured bonds at the Johnston County Detention Center.
Both cars were seized under the NC Run and Done Law.

If they could only round up all the Illegal aliens in our county and deport them back to their respective country, that would be very welcome.
Why, because they are here trespassing, breaking the laws, and overburdening our welfare system, which is not for any of them here illegally, period .
