Selma To Celebrate 50th Annual Railroad Days Festival – September 29 To October 5
SELMA — The Town of Selma is proud to celebrate a major milestone this fall as the Railroad Days Festival marks its 50th anniversary. From Monday, September 29 through Sunday, October 5, Downtown Selma will be transformed into a weeklong celebration of community, tradition, and rail history. The festival promises something for everyone, with live music, parades, train shows, a carnival, food, vendors, and special events commemorating the town’s deep-rooted connection to the railroad.
Festival Highlights by Day:
Monday, September 29
The week kicks off with a Downtown BBQ, hosted by the Town of Selma. Free BBQ sandwiches will be handed out (while supplies last) alongside family-friendly games in the Fire Department parking lot.
Tuesday, September 30
The Spirit Express Cheer Competition will spotlight Johnston County middle school cheer teams as they perform their top halftime routines.
Wednesday, October 1
Worship Wednesday, led by Pastor Todd Daniels of Selma Baptist Church, offers an evening of faith, fellowship, and community. The Carnival also opens, bringing rides, food, and fun for all ages.



Thursday, October 2
The excitement continues with the Kickoff Carnival Bash, featuring Party Pals Meet & Greets and tie-dye t-shirts available with the purchase of a ride band (while supplies last).
Friday, October 3
The Fire Department Cook-Off returns, drawing crowds for delicious BBQ and friendly competition. Later in the evening, legendary beach music group The Tams will perform on the Main Stage. Meanwhile, Model Train Shows will open at the Selma Civic Center and Selma Union Depot.

Saturday, October 4
The biggest day of the festival begins at 10:30 a.m. with the Annual Selma Railroad Days Parade. A full day of live music follows, including performances by On the Border – The Ultimate Eagles Tribute, Allison Radcliffe, Confederate Railroad, and Canaan Smith. Local talent will also take the Community Stage throughout the day.
Downtown will be packed with food trucks, local vendors, a car show, Touch-A-Truck displays, Model Train Shows, and the Carnival.
Sunday, October 5
The festival wraps up with Gospel Performances by Safe Haven Gospel, The Throne of Grace, The Social Security Boy, and Clint Honeycutt. Vendors, food trucks, and the Model Train Shows will remain open for one final day of family fun.
The Carnival runs from Wednesday through Sunday, featuring classic rides, games, and fair-style food that guests of all ages can enjoy.
