Four Facing Felony Charges In Walmart Shoplifting Case

SMITHFIELD — Four individuals are facing felony charges after allegedly conspiring to steal more than $2,200 in electronics from a Walmart store in Smithfield.

According to the Smithfield Police Department, officers were called to the Walmart located at 1299 N. Brightleaf Boulevard around 1:21 p.m. on Tuesday in response to a reported shoplifting incident. Upon arrival, police detained and arrested four suspects at the scene before they could leave the premises.

The suspects have been identified as:

  • Willie Troy Flowers, 32, of Smithfield
  • Gregory Thomas Lyons, 25, of Durham
  • Shantere Trevon Dunbar, 23, of Wake Forest
  • Donovan Warren Bivins, 20, of Durham

All four individuals are charged with felony larceny and felony conspiracy to commit larceny. In addition, Lyons and Dunbar face an extra charge of felony larceny involving an anti-theft device.

Police say they seized wire snips and multiple North Carolina identification cards from the suspects as evidence. The stolen merchandise—valued at $2,229 and consisting primarily of cameras and other electronic items—was recovered and returned to the store.
