Man Charged After Spray Paint Vandalism At Smithfield Businesses

SMITHFIELD — A 27-year-old man has been arrested after police say he vandalized four businesses along North Brightleaf Boulevard with pink spray paint.

Divine Danthony Lawrence, who is reportedly homeless, was taken into custody on Friday evening, September 12, after officers responded to a call about a suspicious person near North Brightleaf Boulevard and Canterbury Road around 7:21 p.m.

According to Smithfield Police, officers found Lawrence with pink spray paint on his hands and a can of spray paint in his backpack. Investigators say he had randomly spray-painted the exteriors of four nearby businesses: KS Bank, Sonic Drive-In, Circle K, and Little Caesars Pizza.

The total estimated cleanup cost for the affected businesses is $2,800.

Authorities said there was no apparent motive for the vandalism.

Lawrence has been charged with three counts of graffiti vandalism and one count of injury to real property.

  1. Perhaps this degenerate can have a chain attached to his ankle and give him enough slack so he can scrub off all his graffiti at each business. Cost would be the hourly wage of a cop to watch him.

    • He’s a degenerate because he spray-painted? Low bar. I would say the degenerates are the people on the Epstein list who are currently running the country and silencing free speech while claiming to hate cancel culture, but I like having perspective.
