Man Accused Of Breaking Into Vehicles At Used Car Dealership

CLAYTON — A tip from a passing driver led deputies to arrest a Lillington man accused of breaking into multiple vehicles at a Johnston County used car dealership in the early morning hours of September 18.
Deputies with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to MTI Auto Sales on Cleveland Road around 1:28 a.m., after a concerned motorist reported seeing a man hiding between cars on the lot.
Upon arrival, deputies said they located Harvey Lee Walker Jr., 39, of Red Bud Circle in Lillington. Walker reportedly claimed he was simply walking to a nearby McDonald’s, but investigators allege security footage told a different story.
Video evidence and a search of the property reportedly revealed Walker had attempted to enter six vehicles, successfully broken into three, and also tried to force open a bay door attached to the dealership building.
Walker now faces a total of 12 criminal charges including three counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, six counts of attempted breaking and entering a motor vehicle, attempted breaking and entering of a building, resisting a public officer, and trespassing.
