LUCAMA – Michael O’Brien picked up his second consecutive win in KONI Shocks Charger victory at Southern National Motorsports Park on Saturday evening.

O’Brien took the lead from Rusty Daniels on the 47th lap of the 75 lap race and drove away from the field as the race finished on a long green flag run. After the race, he talked about the adversity of the season and what it means to be back in victory lane.

“I’m as happy as can be,” O’Brien said after the race. “Just thankful to be here man. We destroyed a car here a couple months ago and built this one. It was sitting outside behind the shop in the weeds. Everything that’s been going on in my life, my dad, first race back since Speedweek. My mom was in the ER the other night. All the guys man, all the sponsors, just everybody that’s helped out.”

Daniels, who has dominated in the Charger division in Eastern North Carolina, finished second while Gator Williams, Brandon Head, and Cody Griffin rounded out the 19-car field.

Scotty Benford picked up the win in the first of two Legends feature races, leading the final five laps and beating out Levi Canup and Brody Rhodes. After an invert of the top finishers, Brody Rhodes raced his way to the front of the field to pick up the win in the second race.

Lee Kozikowski was victorious in a wild Mini Stock feature over Daniel Bentley. The two drivers swapped the lead a few times and had both even been involved in a mid-race incident, before Kozikowski pulled away on a restart. Attrition sidelined the rest of the field.

Mike Sliger was able to hold off challenges from Andrew Watson and eventual runner-up finisher T.J. Mediros in Any Car competition. Dustin Phillips took the lead from Delaney Gray on a late race restart to take the victory in the Allison Legacy Race Series feature race.

The next race at Southern National Motorsports Park will be the Spooktacular on Saturday, October 25, 2025, featuring Limited Late Models, Mini Stocks, Any Cars, Legend Cars, and Bandoleros.
