Human Remains Found In Wooded Area Of Wilson’s Mills
WILSON’S MILLS — Authorities are investigating the discovery of human remains found over the weekend in a wooded area in Johnston County.
According to Wilson’s Mills Police, a group of teenagers made the grim discovery Saturday afternoon while playing in the woods near Fire Department Road and Lockwood Drive. Wilson’s Mills Police responded to a 911 call reporting the incident and subsequently requested assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
Police say the person appears to have been deceased for several years. The remains have been transported to the Office of the State Medical Examiner in Raleigh for further analysis and identification.
Authorities have not released any details about the possible identity of the individual or cause of death.
