US 70 Upgrade In Wilson’s Mills Nears Completion

WILSON’S MILLS – The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) announced Tuesday that the upgrade to U.S. Highway 70 in Wilson’s Mills is nearly complete.
All interchanges along the newly improved stretch are now fully open. The contractor is currently working through a final punch list of minor fixes.

Once those are finished and the NCDOT officially accepts the project — expected to happen this fall — the speed limit along that section of US 70 will be raised to 70 miles per hour.

The contractor must be working on that punch list from home; I haven’t seen any workers out there in months, just the barrels and 60mph work zone speed limit signs (which most drivers ignore).
