Princeton Man Arrested, Charged With Trafficking Methamphetamine

PRINCETON – A 43-year-old man from Princeton has been arrested and charged following a narcotics investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
Clifton Dereck Pope, of Barnes Drive, was taken into custody on August 28 after law enforcement officials searched his residence. According to Sheriff’s investigators, the search led to the seizure of over 60 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, a money counter, and plastic bags commonly used for packaging drugs.
Pope now faces multiple charges, including three counts of trafficking methamphetamine, two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was subsequently booked into the Johnston County Detention Center, where he remains in custody under a $230,000 secured bond.
