Warrant: Local Man Purchased Beer And Cigars With Counterfeit $100 Bill

PRINCETON – A 27-year-old Smithfield man faces two felony charges after allegedly using counterfeit currency to make a purchase at a local store.

Cedric Jequez Braswell, of Barbour Road, was arrested in connection with an incident that took place on September 2 at Dollar General in Princeton.

According to arrest warrants and court records, Braswell attempted to buy Busch Ice beer and a pack of cigars with a counterfeit $100 bill. He received genuine U.S. currency as change during the transaction.

Princeton Police launched an investigation that led to arrest warrants being issued on September 25. Braswell was located by Smithfield officers on October 7 on Berkshire Road and was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with obtaining property by false pretense and uttering counterfeit currency. Braswell was given a $15,000 secured bond.
