Search Warrant At Brogden Residence Leads To Arrests

SMITHFIELD – Two people were taken into custody after Johnston County deputies executed a search warrant at a home in the Brogden community, uncovering suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

The warrant was carried out on Thursday, September 26, at a residence located at 304 Deer Drive, off Brogden School Road. The property is reportedly the home of Cricia Dawnn Burress, who investigators say had been the focus of an undercover narcotics investigation. Deputies allege Burress had been distributing illegal drugs from the location.

During the search, officers discovered 9.4 grams of suspected fentanyl and 35.9 grams of methamphetamine. While conducting the operation, deputies also encountered a second individual at the home — Jodi Kay Creech Romero, 62, of East Brown Street in Pine Level. Romero was reportedly found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Authorities say she initially provided a false name before being positively identified.

Further investigation revealed Romero was wanted on a felony probation violation at the time of her arrest.
Burress was charged with maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a controlled substance. She was given a $20,000 secured bond.

Romero was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, identity theft, and felony probation violation. She was booked into the Johnston County Detention Center under a $95,000 bond.

Where are the trafficking charges at?? That much weight and no Trafficking charges? Johnston County picks and chooses what they put on people. She was under investigation, had 9.3 grams of fentanyl? 38 grams of Meth? No Trafficking charges, and her bond dropped another $10,000 when she went to court the next day. $10,000 bond for all that….tell me how that’s fair or possible?? Only one way I can think of.
