Pedestrian Killed In Early Morning Accident

KENLY – A Selma woman was killed early Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle in the Stancil’s Chapel community, just outside of Kenly.

According to the State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 5:56 a.m. on NC Highway 222 just north of the intersection with NC Highway 42. A Ford Escape traveling along NC 222 collided with a pedestrian who was in the roadway at the time.

The pedestrian, identified as Dana Massello, of Selma, died at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Escape stopped immediately and remained at the scene. No charges have been filed.
