Ex-Employee Accused Of Stealing Gift Cards

GARNER – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jalill Xzavion Howell, age 20, of Laniey Street, Garner on a single felony count of larceny by an employee.

On December 10, 2024, a manager at Speedway, at 5170 NC 42 West near Interstate 40, reported Howell had placed a total of $2,775 on 16 different gift cards then failed to pay. At the time of the alleged theft, Howell was an employee at the convenience store.

A warrant was later obtained for his arrest. On March 23, 2025 he was located by a deputy sheriff and arrested.

Howell was transported to the Johnston County Detention Center and given a $5,000 secured bond.
