Man Struck, Killed By Amtrak Train
GARNER — An adult male was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Thursday morning in Garner, prompting renewed warnings from local authorities about railroad safety.
The incident occurred around 10:33 a.m. near Jones Sausage Road, where Garner police say an eastbound Amtrak train hit the man as he was on the tracks. The crash happened near several schools, though no students or school staff were involved.
Police have not released the identity of the man, and it remains unclear why he was on the tracks at the time.
“The investigation into this incident is ongoing,” the Garner Police Department said in a statement. “We want to remind our community about the vital importance of railroad safety. Please stay off railroad tracks—it’s not only illegal but also very dangerous.”
Train service was briefly delayed while Garner police detectives worked to gather evidence.

it’s sad that this person died….However, it is illegal to be trespassing on railroad property. Also, you shouldn’t have earphones on while walking on the tracks…have your car radio so loud you can’t hear the horn blow….what’s wrong with all these people walking or driving down the railroad tracks….I know some have been using the crossings but still…
