Four Oaks Man Accused Of Scamming $1,000 From Victim In Deck Construction Deal

AYDEN, N.C. — A Four Oaks man is facing multiple charges after allegedly taking payment for a home renovation project in Pitt County and never completing the work.

Ayden Police say Joey Randolph Williams Jr., 35, was hired in April 2025 to build a deck for a local woman. The two reportedly agreed on a price of $1,000. According to investigators, the woman paid Williams, but he never finished the job.

After the homeowner reported the incident, Ayden Police obtained warrants for Williams’ arrest in mid-July. But it wasn’t until September 11 that law enforcement caught up with him.

A Johnston County sheriff’s deputy located Williams earlier this month, but when approached, Williams allegedly fled on foot. He was caught shortly after and taken into custody.

Williams now faces several charges, including felony obtaining property by false pretense, felony larceny, and misdemeanor failure to work after being paid—charges stemming from the Ayden case.

He’s also been charged in Johnston County with resisting a public officer due to his attempt to run from deputies. In addition, Williams was served with three outstanding failure-to-appear warrants related to previous charges where he failed to appear in court, including possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  1. Thieves…taking things from people that don’t belong to them. Why don’t they cut grass, farm, or get into a trade? The demand for those skills are present.

The love of money is the root of all evil…the same evil in the heart of this thief.

The only way to cure this “love of money” is through repentance, and belief in Jesus…He is the Way and The Truth.
