Two Suspects Arrested Inside McDonald’s After Stolen Vehicle Found

SMITHFIELD — Two men were arrested inside a McDonald’s restaurant in West Smithfield after deputies located a stolen vehicle parked outside.

On August 12, a Johnston County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a 2018 Infiniti reported stolen out of Raleigh parked in front of the McDonald’s at 884 W. Market Street.

As the deputy waited for backup, one of the suspects — later identified as the passenger — reportedly fled into the restaurant on foot. The deputy pursued and tackled the man near the entrance to the restroom.

At the same time, the second suspect — the alleged driver — was attempting to exit the restroom. While restraining the first individual on the ground, the deputy also blocked the restroom door with his arm to prevent the second suspect from escaping.

Backup units arrived shortly after, and both individuals were taken into custody without further incident.

The suspects were identified as: Jaquaveon Dashawn McDonald, 20, of Clayton – the alleged driver – and Daniel Earl Marshall Bailey, 19, of Rocky Mount – the alleged passenger.

Both men were charged with felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle. They were held under $30,000 secured bonds.
