Abandoned Car Torched
WILLOW SPRING – A vehicle fire that occurred early Monday in western Johnston County has been ruled arson.
Fire crews were dispatched around 12:01 a.m. to the intersection of Jackson-King Road and Landmark Road, where they found a 2014 Infiniti fully engulfed in flames.
Investigators later determined the fire had been intentionally set.
According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle belonged to a Clayton resident who reported that it had run out of gas. The owner said they left the car at the location and planned to retrieve it after work. However, before they could return, the vehicle was set on fire.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office are jointly investigating the incident.
