SUV Strikes Front Of Restaurant; No Injuries Reported

BENSON – A vehicle struck the front of a popular Benson restaurant Friday afternoon, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The incident occurred just before 1:00 p.m. at Grill on the Hill, located at 3405 NC 242 North. At the time, the restaurant was filled with lunchtime patrons.

According to officials, the SUV did not enter the building, but it did strike and damage at least two support beams on the restaurant’s front porch.

Benson Police, Benson and Elevation Fire Departments, Johnston County EMS, and Johnston County Building Inspections responded to the scene.

The driver was assessed at the scene and did not require transport to the hospital.

Benson Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.

Despite the scare and minor structural damage, Grill on the Hill was able to remain open, with staff and patrons grateful the outcome wasn’t worse.
