Former School Resource Officer And Wife Sentenced In Johnston County

JOHNSTON COUNTY – A former school resource officer and his wife, a former teacher, were sentenced to probation on Thursday after pleading guilty to charges stemming from an investigation involving a former student at Corinth Holders High School.

Michael Medlin, previously assigned as the school resource officer at the school, and his wife, Ami Medlin, a former family and consumer science teacher, were originally indicted in January 2023 on multiple serious charges, including taking indecent liberties with a student, sexual exploitation of a minor, and sexual servitude. The offenses reportedly occurred in 2015 and 2016.

In court, Michael Medlin pled guilty to felony illegal access of a government computer, misdemeanor simple assault, and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency/providing alcohol to a minor. He received a suspended sentence.

Ami Medlin pled guilty to felony taking indecent liberties with a student. She was also given a suspended sentence, ordered to register as a sex offender, and permanently prohibited from contacting the victim.

The couple appeared in court together but had separate attorneys. Both were removed from their positions in 2022 following the initial allegations. The North Carolina SBI conducted the investigation at the request of the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office.

    • It’s funny how when one bad cop does anything, everyone lumps the whole profession to blame. If a teacher or nurse does something wrong the whole world doesn’t start talking about defund nurses or defund the teachers. Millions of interactions with cops on a daily basis. Most of which are because of bad decisions someone made. The only ones who get any coverage are the .0001% that are handled poorly by the LEO….

      • @Save: You need to rejoin reality:

        Teachers have been “defunded” (we’re on track to end the entire Dept of Education) to the point that they need to post wish lists on Amazon to get the public to provide supplies for their own children!

        Medicare and Medicaid have been “defunded” to the point that we’re now closing local hospitals (ask the folks in Rockingham or Siler City).

        But we’ve got plenty of funding for the JoCo high water rescue vehicle!

        The fact that you’re actually defending these child molesters says a lot. You’re not a former JoCo commissioner, are you?

      • You have clearly missed the daily YouTube videos of people testing their constitutional rights against their local police departments. Spoiler: 95% of entire departments fail. I’m actually grateful for these videos because I see the more police are tested the more they learn. I wish it was state or government teaching and defunding those who refuse to learn, because there is a lot. The good they do does not excuse the bad. As for comparing police with nurses? Just deluded. Nurses save lives and do no harm. Police by definition are out to get you. There is no comparison.

        Were these two offered a plea deal? I do not understand probation at all. There needs to be a deeper dive into this. Did the parent(s) of the students get any say so in the sentencing?

        I guess when politicians from both sides can get away with this then no one should be surprised when the average citizen does as well. At least the priest from last week was with a consenting adult…

  5. Who is the judge that presided over this case? Check their hard drives and computers. My heart hurts for the victim, who the court clearly did not protect.

  8. Seems like we all agree, probation is a little light for a sentence. Let’s see if this sets precedence or is this light sentence just for the chosen few.

  11. If anyone wants to see the background of “THE MESS” of these two “UPSTANDING JOCO SLIME-BUCKETS ” who @ the time of their arraignment, had a large amount of “community support….” /GO FIGURE !!!!

    By all means, go use your Google machine, and you will see the coverage that this mess had received back when it went down! I thought , I recalled that back then, that local news and tv news outlets reported about the “”highly elaborate GROOMING process”” that these wonderful JoCo folks had going on….

    But let’s see….With a name like “MEDLIN” in JoCo, and you happen to be a COP…..

  13. Folks, pedophilia is a major problem in society. You hear this kinds of stuff from “regulars” like these folks, entertainers (music/movies), those involved in politics, and many others. If you do not know already, this stuff has to do with Satanic (Ba’al) beliefs and rituals…ie child sacrifice. Satanists, who are the leaders of the pornography industry, use porn to create sex addicts and it leads those addicts into darker and darker practices…until they are completely numb to these kinds of heinous acts. These Satanic people are deeply embedded in many organizations that you give a lot of trust. My suggestion, do not give your trust away so easily to the government, entertainers, or those around you. Satan and his followers are deceptive and openly lying is encouraged by these people (John 8:44). They are not like you and me. They have suppressed emotions like empathy, love, sympathy, etc. They only act on their desires.

    Furthermore, open your mind to realize you don’t “need” the government, entertainers, any other evil practicing people around you. Submit to Jesus, turn from the life of sin, and follow Him. His Word is the recipe for quality living and He is the only Truth we have this side of Heaven (John 14:6). I challenge you…read The Ten Commandments today and think about the world around you. Satan and his followers are literally doing the opposite of every one of them. Just open your eyes and mind. Jesus will remove the veil if you ask Him too. It’s a real shame and disgraced that in this country you can have sex or anything close to that with a child a only get probation is disgustingly nasty and shows just how much we love our children-We clearly DONT-however smoke or sell a blunt/joint and go to prison for life just about but have sex with a kid and they just might slap you on the back or your hand but not likely you’ll most likely be patted on the back saying good job…RIDICULOUS
