Police Searching For Two Vehicles Following Shooting Incident Outside Smithfield Restaurant
SMITHFIELD – The Smithfield Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of Outback Steakhouse, located at 911 Outlet Center Drive.
The incident took place around 1:00 p.m. when two vehicles quickly entered the parking lot. According to witnesses, one individual exited each vehicle, and a single gunshot was fired. Both individuals quickly returned to their vehicles and fled the scene.
Officers recovered a spent shell casing at the scene. At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that anyone was injured.
Police are searching for two vehicles of interest: a full-size dark green or black SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon, and a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck.
It remains unclear whether the individuals involved knew each other or if the shooting was the result of a road rage incident. The shooting occurred in front of several witnesses.
