Smithfield Appoints New Members To Boards And Committees

SMITHFIELD – At its September 16 meeting, the Smithfield Town Council approved several appointments to town boards and committees, including the Planning Board, Appearance Commission, Historic Preservation Committee, and Recreation Advisory Committee.

Planning Board:
Eight residents applied for three vacant in-town seats on the Planning Board. The applicants were: David Parker Jr., Jaime Beasley, Stephanie Avery, Nariman Jeff Jaminia, Dale Erickson, Richard Buckner, Luke Stancil, and Christina Arean. (David A. Byrd Jr. initially applied for a position but withdrew his name from consideration prior to the meeting.)

The Council appointed Jaime Beasley, Nariman Jeff Jaminia, and Luke Stancil to fill the open positions.

Historic Preservation Commission:
There were three open seats on the Historic Preservation Commission but only two applicants. The Council reappointed Elizabeth Temple for a second term and appointed Emma K. Creech for her first term.

Recreation Advisory Committee:
Marcela Buccafusco was appointed to her first term on the Recreation Advisory Committee. Three seats on the committee remain unfilled.
