Rezoning Approved For Expansion Of Concrete Septic Tank Manufacturer
SMITHFIELD — A longtime Smithfield business is set to expand following a rezoning approval by the Smithfield Town Council.
Mitchell Concrete, a family-owned company specializing in the production of concrete septic tanks, received the green light to rezone 13 acres of land adjacent to its current facility on Parrish Drive, a private street off W Market Street. The decision was made during the council’s regular meeting on September 16.
Jamie Mitchell told the council the rezoned land will be used to store newly manufactured septic tanks. According to Mitchell, the tanks must sit for about 30 days to allow the concrete to properly cure before they can be distributed for use.
Mitchell Concrete has been in business since 1970 and serves a 10-county region.
