Selma Couple Arrested On 75 Felony Drug Charges

SELMA – A six-month investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, with assistance from the ATF, has led to the arrest of a Selma couple on a combined 75 felony drug charges.

On August 6, Gonzalo Santiago, 51, and his girlfriend Kimothy Lanita Monroe, 37, were taken into custody at their residence at 4446 NC Highway 96 North. Investigators say six undercover drug buys were made during the investigation, totaling 59 grams of cocaine and 188 grams of methamphetamine.

A search of their home on the day of the arrest yielded an additional 48 grams of cocaine, 64 grams of crack cocaine, 10 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), 52 grams of marijuana, oxycodone pills, three firearms—including a sawed-off shotgun—digital scales, packaging materials, and a mason jar of moonshine.

Santiago faces 48 drug-related charges. He was previously out on bond from a prior drug case. He is now back behind bars being held without bond. Monroe faces 27 drug charges and is being held under a $1 million bond.

The seized drugs have an estimated street value of nearly $37,000.

  1. His wife wife is rolling over in her grave knowing this is the type of person he chooses to be with after her death and look how she has brought this man down.

    • He is a grown man and he knew exactly what he was doing. And made the choice to do this especially since he was out on bond for drugs already.

    • I think his wife’s death is the reason he’s spiraled. The kids too, except for his daughter. That man was an electrician and has thrown his life away. Hopefully he’ll get it together, he will have the time now.

      • Oh BS he’s grown and made his own choices. I lost my parents went thru a horrible divorce and I didn’t resort to selling drugs. You know why because it is against the law and wrong!! Leave the excuses in the trash where they belong!

        • Wow, I’m really glad you think we all take in what we go trough and react the same.
Lets all say it together “THE ROAD YOU WALK IS NOT THE SAME ROAD AS EVERYONE ELSE”

  2. Too bad they sold drugs. If they had groomed a minor and worked for the JCSO or JCPS they would just have probation.

  3. Told tha truth said a mouth fool it will always come down to the company you keep at look at that he is with now. A hot mess! I sure hope his daughter is doing well and is making her mother proud! A wonderful electrician he use to make good money the legal way but being laid up with a nobody will make you one she look like she from nothing and will never be nothing. Just another junkie brining a man down.

  4. I hate that he went through this but yes when his wife died he spiraled… Then on top of it the kids did the same thing..I know this man personally and anybody that knows him knows hes a good dude he just made the wrong choices .. Grief people handle it in diffrent ways .. Regardless of this im praying for him and his children .. He has caught pure h*ll since his wife died so before you judge just think about the pressures he had on him..

  5. For the people that say they know him personally. What kind of help did you offer him since you saying he spiral and caught h*ll after his wife died. By the weight of the drug them was not at all personal use to deal with the pain of a loss one that was enough to make money and meet the demands of the drug addicts. You take chances when doing illegal s**t.
