SMITHFIELD – A Johnston County inmate is facing new felony charges after allegedly assaulting a detention officer.
The incident occurred Monday, August 19, around 2:10 p.m. at the Johnston County Detention Center on US 70 East. Authorities say 28-year-old Everette Glenn King, of Zack’s Mill Road in Angier, refused to comply with commands from detention staff before physically assaulting a male officer. The officer sustained minor injuries.

According to court records, King had been in custody since July 30 on a charge of felony methamphetamine possession. He was also charged on August 1 with felony probation violation.

He looks so intelligent…
I have just read the report of an inmate (King) having an altercation with a jail employee. Here are my RELATVE concerns. This is an inflammatory report giving the personal details of the inmate. This included picture, name, partial alleged offense and even a personal address!! REALLY! It is my understanding that this responsibility of breach of confidentiality is squarely on the shoulders of the media. In fairness to our inmates (as they still have constitutional rights) could you please post the picture, name, address and what instigated the altercation from the jail employee. It would seem to be either confidential for all or full disclosure for all!
My family are Johnston County tax payers and are very offended that inflammatory articles, such as this one for Mr. King can be spread for any and all! Shame on you!
