Nine Smoke Shops Raided In Harnett County For Illegal THC Sales

HARNETT COUNTY Over the past two weeks, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Dunn, Angier, and Lillington Police Departments, executed search warrants at nine smoke shops across the county following growing concerns over illegal THC sales and public safety risks involving minors.

The investigation was launched in response to a series of public complaints reporting that local smoke shops were selling THC products to minors. Authorities also noted multiple overdose incidents involving juveniles and the sale of products containing THC levels well above legal limits established under North Carolina law.

During the coordinated raids, law enforcement seized approximately 64 pounds of THC, along with $49,033 in cash. Confiscated products included THC vapes, pre-rolled THC cigars, and THC-laced flower buds—all of which were being sold under the pretense of compliance with legal THC thresholds. Laboratory testing, however, confirmed that many of these items exceeded allowable levels, placing them in violation of North Carolina General Statutes.

According to investigators, several of the confiscated products were directly linked to medical emergencies that required EMS response, including incidents at local schools.

According to a press release from the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office. “Business owners and employees who put public health at risk—especially the health of our youth—will be held accountable.”

The investigation remains ongoing and criminal charges are pending.
