Victim of I-40 Crash Identified

BENSON – The State Highway Patrol has released the name of a woman who was killed in a single vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 40 near Benson.

Troopers identified the victim as Bailey Elise James, age 36, of Mebane, NC.

James was driving eastbound on I-40 near the 330 mile marker, just east of I-95, when her car ran ran off the road to the left into the grass median. She overcorrected causing the vehicle to travel off the interstate to the right, striking a ditch then a tree.

James died at the scene from her injuries. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
