Benson, NC: Mr. Glenn Turnage, age 89, of Highway 50 South passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield with his family by his side. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Scott Johnson and Doug Abel. Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery.

Mr. Turnage was born on September 27, 1936 in Johnston County to the late Malcom E. and Sarah Rosey Surcey Turnage. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Audrey Evans and sister, Maverine Blundell. Mr. Turnage, alongside his wife and family, was the owner and operator of Turnage Gas and Grocery for many years and was a lifelong farmer. He was an active member at Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church where he served as a deacon and loved to fish and hunt. Mr. Turnage will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Jane Turnage; children, Richard Turnage of Benson, Janet Evans and husband, Mark of Princeton, and Wanda Johnson and husband, Willis of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Brent Evans and wife, Christine, Lydia Evans, and Garrett Johnson; and great granddaughter, Lyla Evans.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church.
