1. Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to start your blog?

My name is Monroe Steele and I am a physical therapist and I have also been a fashion blogger and writer for the past 5 years. What inspired me to start blogging was that I was fresh out of Physical Therapy school at NYU and working my first job as a Physical Therapist. I was always in scrubs or a white lab coat and I love fashion but never got to wear anything cool. I only had the weekend to rock my fabulous thrifted wardrobe and it was a bummer. I wanted to document my outfits and I love to write so I just thought to start a blog in 2010 to get that creativity out.

2. What’s your secret to putting together the perfect outfit?

I always build around the shoes. It makes everything so much easier. If I’m doing a lot of walking or standing I want to go with a comfortable stacked mule or wedge or even a flat. I build from there.

3. What are your four staple garments and/or accessories that you can’t live without?

A great mule, a great flat, a crisp white tee shirt and one great pair of fitted denim jeans.

4. What are your current beauty must-haves?

Currently I devour 100% Aloe Vera Juice. I buy it at Whole Foods in bulk and use it on my skin and on my hair. It’s great for just about everything. You can even drink it for better digestion.

5. Tell us about your hair! What are some of your go-to styles?

My hair is natural. I’ve been natural for about 2 years and for the majority of that time I’ve worn my hair in large, long marley twist. My stylist Amanny of Morkinks.com based in Harlem, and now in Brooklyn, is the absolute best. I’m actually planning on debuting my afro in the next two weeks and leaving it out for summer.

6. Is there an outfit or garment piece in your closet that has a special of fun memory?

I am in love with these multicolored pom pom Brian Atwood Sandals that I got at the 1 day sample sale last year. It was freezing, it was actually the coldest day ever that day and I stood outside waiting to be let in to get these. Luckily, I called ahead and had them held for me. It was funny when I finally got inside my box of shoes was right next to the same shoes being held for Stylist June Ambrose.

7. Describe your style in four words?
