Being a sassy cowgirl isn’t just for the ladies residing in Texas anymore. Imagine a cowgirl strutting out of the 1989 T.V. mini series, Lonesome Dove, and into your most favorite film noir movie. This is the most accurate way to describe the Cushnie et Ochs collection. Karolina Kurkova opened the show giving the runway life by marching down in an all black ensemble. A satin bodice with lace trimmings and a black lace skirt that was accessorized by black sleek leather booties and a black felt Western hat made by milliner, Albertus Swanepoel. The makeup was kept simple throughout the show. An effortless cat eye and rose tinted lips were all that the models needed. The skin was soft and dewy with light pink stained cheeks.
The best looks are sometimes the most simplest and in the most purest form. Model, Sung Hee captivated the runway wearing a simple white gown that was technically designed to perfection to create a figure flattering shilouette that would compliment almost any figure. The bust of the gown had an almost to-deep-scooped neckline with fitted off the shoulder sleeves. The slightly oversized black wool coat, worn by model Betty Adewole, was a killer. I tend to stray away from black winter coats because they tend to have less character, but oversized collar, lapel and prodigious fur cuffs were sublime. This will be the “it” black coat for the fall. It’s flattering, glamorous and ultra sexy and will be a great piece to revamp your fall/winter wardrobe staples. Black was the dominating color in the collection while chartreuse, sapphire, and white were incorporated into the rest of the collection. The collection had much fluidity from their Spring Summer 2014 collection they debuted at Milk Studios in September. Cushnie et Ochs continued to do what they have been known for since establishing themselves in 2008; creating sensual looks with contouring silhouettes. Designers are only as good as their last collection and these duo designers, Michelle Ochs an Carly Cushnie, continued to surpass themselves with their Fall/Winter 2014 collection.
