Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Amtrak Train

CLAYTON – An Amtrak train struck and killed a pedestrian in Clayton, Friday morning.

The incident happened around 11:00am near the 400 block of Front Street.

Clayton Police are investigating. The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of their family.

This is the second train-pedestrian fatality in Johnston County within a week. On June 14 around 3:03am, a 34 year-old Smithfield man was struck by a freight train near the Wal-Pat Road crossing in the Smithfield city limits.

  1. Are trains starting to jump off the tracks and chase these people? If so, we’ve definitely got a problem. If not, it has to be suicide by train. It is so sad and heartbreaking that these people see this as their only way out. Hopefully God will have mercy on their souls.
