Armed Highway Robbery Reported In Johnston County
CLAYTON – Two people said they were robbed at gunpoint and assaulted on a rural dark roadway in Johnston County. The armed robbery happened on Friday, June 27 around 8:00 p.m.
A Wendell couple said they were traveling on Medlin Road near Clayton behind a dark four-door passenger car. The car suddenly slowed and pulled across both travel lanes, forcing the victims to stop.
Four unknown men jumped from the vehicle armed with handguns. They punched the two victims and forced them to the ground where they were robbed of approximately $400 in cash.
The suspects got back into their car and sped away.
The victims sustained minor injuries.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the robbery.

So the front car took a chance that the victims weren’t armed, and also happened to luck out and stop someone who was carrying $400 in cash? I’m sure this was totally random.

More than likely it was a drug deal gone bad. They probably thought they were going to get drugs but instead got beat and robbed of their money. So sad and be glad they weren’t killed.
I often travel that road since I live nearby! I wondered if they were being watched at the ATM on Pritchard and then followed home because they were known to have cash, leading to a robbery.
